How Can I Know Who is Right?
How Can I Know Who Is Right?
Take a look at the divided religious world around us. Hundreds of different groups are teaching different doctrines and practicing different creeds. To the uninitiated it is surely a confusing and frustrating situation. How can a person know who is right? How can we be sure what God wants us to do? Here are some essential guidelines:
Remember that we are searching for God’s answer, not man’s. Worship is “in vain” when it follows “for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matt. 15:9).
God’s truth is revealed solely and exclusively in the Bible. Despite many claims to the contrary, no one today has received spiritual truth in any way other than from God’s word. “. . . thy word is truth” (John 17:17)
Not only is truth found in God’s word, but we can have confidence that every bit of truth we need is there. The Scriptures teach us everything we need to be “complete, furnished completely unto every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16,17).
The Bible says that there are many false teachers in the world, and warns us to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” (l John 4:1).
Finally, we must be determined to accept God’s word, and nothing else. “If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:9).
Understanding how important it is to know who is right in matters of religion, it behooves us all to carefully consider what we believe and what we have been doing. Jesus said we can know the truth (John 8:32). Study! - Greg Gwin
